Every Engagement Is Led by a US Principal Engineer

The principal engineer is not a project manager. They own architecture decisions, delivery outcomes, and client communication. They are the single accountable leader who translates business intent into engineering execution.

This is the structural difference between Sonatafy and every offshore vendor. Offshore models put a project manager between you and the engineers. The Sonatafy model puts a principal engineer at the center who owns the result.

Principal engineers are matched based on domain expertise, stack alignment, and leadership style. You meet the principal before the engagement begins.

    What the Principal Owns

    Leadership Model
    Architecture decisions and technical direction
    Delivery outcomes and sprint accountability
    Client communication and stakeholder updates
Code quality standards and review process
    Engineer mentorship and team cohesion
Escalation path for blockers and risks

    How We Vet Engineers

Four Stage Screening. Senior Talent Only.

Every engineer goes through a rigorous vetting process before being presented to a client. We screen for technical depth, communication clarity, cultural alignment, and domain context.

    Stage 1

    Technical Assessment

Stack specific evaluation matched to your technology environment. Architecture discussions, live coding, and system design. 8 to 10+ years production experience required.

    Stage 2

    Communication Evaluation

Live English communication exercise. Clarity, responsiveness, and the ability to explain complex technical decisions in plain language are evaluated. Not a test score. A conversation.

    Stage 3

    Cultural Fit Interview

Collaboration style, feedback receptivity, and team dynamics assessment. Engineers who work inside your team need to fit your team, not just your codebase.

    Stage 4

    Domain Context Screening

Industry and domain experience review. Healthcare compliance, fintech regulations, enterprise integration patterns. Context matters as much as code.

Acceptance rate: < 8% of applicants are placed

    How Integration Works

Engineers Are English Fluent, Work Your Hours, and Integrate Into Your Daily Rhythm From Day One

No ramp-up friction. Engineers join your standups, use your tools, and follow your processes from the first week.

    Communication

All engineers demonstrate strong English proficiency before joining. Every engineer completes a live technical communication exercise. Clear communication is a requirement, not a bonus.

    Time Zone Alignment

All engineers, both US and LATAM based, work within US time zones. Real-time collaboration across standups, sprint planning, and architecture discussions. Async is not the default. It is the exception.

    Compliance Ready

HIPAA, SOC 2, and enterprise security compliance built into our engagement model. See full details below.

    Compliance Readiness

Enterprise Grade Security and Compliance Built In

For healthcare, fintech, and enterprise clients, compliance is not an add-on. It is embedded in every engagement from day one.

Security and compliance are not afterthoughts.

Every Sonatafy engagement begins with a compliance review during scoping. Your regulatory environment is assessed and the engagement is configured accordingly, including data handling protocols, access controls, and documentation requirements.

Engineers are trained on secure development practices and understand the regulatory constraints of the industries they serve. This is not checkbox compliance. It is operational awareness that prevents issues before they reach production.

For regulated industries, your team receives detailed documentation packages that support existing compliance frameworks and audit processes.

    HIPAA Compliance

BAA execution, PHI handling protocols, access logging, encryption at rest and in transit. Engineers trained on minimum necessary access principles.

    SOC 2 Awareness

Development practices aligned with SOC 2 Type II controls. Secure code review processes, access management, and change management documentation.

    NDAs and Data Handling

Mutual NDAs executed before any access is granted. Data handling agreements customized to your requirements. IP assignment clauses included in every engagement.

    Security Standards

Secure SDLC practices including code scanning, dependency auditing, secrets management, and environment isolation. Engineers follow your security policies from day one.

    Fintech Readiness

Experience with PCI DSS environments, financial data handling, audit trail requirements, and regulatory reporting infrastructure. Engineers understand the stakes.

    Audit Support

Documentation packages for internal and external audits. Access logs, change records, and compliance evidence readily available for your compliance team.

    What Integration Looks Like

A Typical Day for a Sonatafy Engineer on Your Team

No overnight handoffs. No morning surprises. Engineers work inside your tools, your channels, and your cadence.

    9:00 AM

Daily standup with your product and engineering team. Same meeting, same updates, same blockers.

    9:30 AM, 12:00 PM

Sprint work in your Slack channels, your Jira board, your codebase. Feature development, bug fixes, architecture discussions.

    1:00, 5:00 PM

Code reviews completed same day. Architecture decisions reviewed with the principal engineer. PRs merged before end of day.

    Weekly

Sprint planning, retrospectives, and velocity reviews alongside your team. The principal engineer joins stakeholder syncs.

    Addressing the Offshore Concern

Bad Offshore Experiences Usually Start With Bad Leadership

If you have had a poor experience with offshore developers, you are not alone.

That pattern is usually a leadership and accountability problem, not a talent problem. When no one owns the outcome and engineers are managed through layers of handoffs, delivery breaks regardless of where the team sits.

Every Sonatafy engagement is led by US-based leadership who owns architecture and delivery outcomes. Senior US and LATAM engineers round out the team. The communication is direct. The time zone is yours.

You will not have the same experience. This model was built specifically to eliminate the structural failures that make offshore engagements break.
